Should customers pick a free time or book fixed sessions?
In Settings → Opening hours & times under How customers book choose Free times from opening hours (customers pick any free time) or Fixed sessions (events) (you create sessions with places), then click Save changes.
How to do it
Open Settings → Opening hours & times.
Under How customers book read the options.
Choose Free times from opening hours for appointments – hair, massage, tattoo, repairs.
Choose Fixed sessions (events) for classes, courses and events with several places, then create sessions under Events.
Click Save changes.
Open View booking page and check that customers see free times or your sessions.
Tips and common mistakes
- Free times: length comes from the service, times from opening hours or staff working hours, one customer per time; Minimum notice, Book up to and gap settings apply.
- Fixed sessions: you set date, time and capacity of each session, and the Booking form layout applies.
- Accommodation is a third mode for stays by the night.
- While a paid accommodation plan is active, change it in Subscription before switching to services, and vice versa.
Why it matters
The right mode makes booking natural: appointments fill your free time, classes fill their places.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to existing bookings when I switch?
They are not changed. Only the way new bookings are offered changes.
Is either mode limited by plan?
Both modes are in every plan. Plans differ in limits, e.g. events a month: Free 10, Starter 50.
